Comfort & Quality
The construction of the earbuds is great with the sport flex ear tips. Given the three sizes of winged eartips, there should be minimal issues with sizings, comfort, and security of the fit.
The aluminum charging case is a great feature that allows for protection of the buds in the elements, as they are water-resistant. The engineered TrueWirelessFlash technology of the case, allows for an additional 20 hours of playtime, in addition to the five hours after a full charge of the buds.
There are no volume controls on the earbuds themselves, which means the user controls through the bluetooth enabled device. This is not necessarily a bad thing, though. With other wireless headphones, there are sometimes too many touch controls which can make it cumbersome when managing volumes and playlists on the headphones themselves.
Phones and watches through the Bluetooth generally connect without issues, but there are some reviews of customers who have rare connectivity problems. When there are multiple devices conneted and disconneted, there could be issues when many are within range. When I connect my JBL Sprint headphones, I have issues when switching between Apple watch, iPad, iPhone and MacBook. Some customers have claimed that with the Flash earbuds, re-docking in the charging case will solve this issue without having to go into your bluetooth settings.
Issues with sound quliaty are of concern to those customer reviews on Amazon and JBL. The main issue is with the bass, but overall there are some great ideas and solutions to these issues, based on user preference and bluetooth playing device.
Utilization of the different size earbuds will go hand in hand with sound quality. Try out the diffrent sizes to not only find the most comfort, but also the best quality of sound. Those who have trouble with a muffled sound or feel like their ears are plugged, are likely not wearing the appropriate size buds.
Sound quality will be dependent upon the device that is connected to them. There are reviews of Samsung Galaxy phone models and others where the quality is subpar. The issue is that the default volume is set much lower with those devices. This is compared to connecting to newer Galaxy models or to a laptop. With that, though, there are volume sync attributes within those devices that can be resynched to improve the volume.
Additionally, some customers have been able to utilize a sound equalizer app on their phone to get to their desired sound preferences for music. The Flash earbuds will support the varied preferences to cater to a wide variety of users.
In addition to the TrueWirelessFlash case, there are additional sound and microphone technologies that were created with JBL’s engineering. The Bionic Hearing is comprised of both TalkThru & AmbientAware. TalkThru technology allows for the user to be able to have an outside conversation without having to adjust the volume or remove the earbuds. The music is lowered and an amplification is applied to outside speech. AmbientAware is designed to strengthen the user’s music experience while not decreasing safety, as ambient sounds are increased.

My experience with JBL is that of my vehicle surround systems, a JBL Charge bluetooth speaker, and two JBL Sprint wireless headphones (used for running and cross training workouts). The first pair of Sprint worked perfectly for my need, but a rollerblading accident broke this pair. Because of the comfort and quality, I immediately purchase the newest model. I have used the suggestions for sound quality and have shown marked improvements. I believe that preferences cannot be catered to all with a product right out of the box. I will consider suggestions for improvement when purchasing listening devices in the future.
With overall rating at or above 4 of 5, these JBL Flash earbuds rate 80%. Given the additional fixes from customers and JBL itself, the customer rating could definitely be higher. Customers should use all of the resources available to adapt and increase the value of the user’s experience. With that I would give the ranking of these headphones a slightly higher ranking that that of JBL and Amazon customer reviews.
